I kicked my bike into gear as dark, angry clouds encircled the ancient Trimbakeshwar range. Leaving the town behind, my friend and I rode down the narrow, broken roads toward Sapgaon. The intense monsoon breeze smelled of wet earth and wild grass. We parked near the jungle edge because the mud trail ahead was completely impassable for vehicles. Walking into the deep green sanctuary of the Sahyadri forest, the silence was immediate. Suddenly, a deep, pulsing vibration echoed through the trees. The rocks grew slick, and rain began to pelt our faces continuously. We scrambled down a steep, muddy slope, our boots sliding through the slush. Then, the dense treeline parted abruptly. The monumental Dugarwadi waterfall slammed down the 750-foot rocky cliff right in front of us. The sheer force of the cold mist hit our skin like needles. Looking at that roaring white column, the endless chaos of my city life evaporated into the heavy mountain air. Nature does not ask for your attention here; it simply commands it.
