Halfway up, the forest thinned, exposing me to a brutal mountain gale. The wind howled through the high gaps, threatening to pull me right off the rock face. I reached the infamous iron ladders bolted into the vertical rock. My fingers felt completely numb against the freezing metal. Below me lay a massive, terrifying drop into a bottomless white abyss of swirling fog. One misstep meant plunging into the unknown.
I took a deep breath, pushing through the raw panic rattling my chest. Scrambling over the final wet stone step, I collapsed onto the massive Budhla Machi ridge. The landscape was a chaotic canvas of emerald hills and roaring, hidden waterfalls. My city worries didn't just feel distant; they felt entirely nonexistent. Standing alone on that storm-swept summit, I realized the mountain hadn't broken me. It had put me back together.
The roaring Sahyadri winds continued to bash the stone ramparts, but a deep, unbreakable silence had finally taken root in my mind.
