As I walked closer to the edge, the ground began to vibrate. Suddenly, the dense mist parted like a stage curtain, revealing a massive, plunging torrent of mountain water cutting through the black rocks directly below the ruined fort walls. The scent of wet earth and crushed wild moss filled the air. The sheer roar of the water sounded like an echo of ancient cannon fire bouncing off the valley walls. Standing there, drenched in the cold mountain spray, I realized that while empires crumble and fortifications fall into ruin, the wild spirit of the Sahyadris can never be tamed. The water still claims the mountain, long after the soldiers have gone.
